History of the brand

Aaron’s was founded by Charlie Loudermilk in 1955. Loudermilk had come up with a unique lease-to-own model that filled the gap for underserved customers. It provided the best alternative for owning and purchasing products of the highest quality. The company’s services are currently available to about 40-50% of the population in the U.S. who make less than $50,000 annually.

Aaron’s spirit of innovation led to the establishment of Progressive Leasing, a virtual lease-to-own business that operates 20,000 retail locations to provide lease-purchase solutions for consumers. These locations can be found in 46 states.

In 2008, it sold to CORT Business Services its Corporate Furnishings business. The division ran 47 stores and had accrued revenues worth $99 million the previous year. Its business model was focused on renting out the home and office furniture.

Aaron’s prides itself on its talented staff and management team. This is the source of its strength as it boasts of more than 12,000 associates that have the passion, creativity, and skills to drive the company towards its success.

The store has also holds a long tradition of giving back to those that it serves. The Aaron’s Foundation has been in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and has also committed to ensuring its Keystone program functions perfectly. People aged 14-18 are encouraged to achieve academic success and to get involved in community service as well as career preparation.
