Ashley Furniture HomeStore is a chain of stores that sells products under the Ashley Furniture brand name. The chain currently operates 800 locations across the world. Its stores are both corporately and independently owned. It currently employs over 18,000 people worldwide. 

History 

The first store under the name Ashley HomeStore was opened in 1997 in Anchorage, Alaska. The company quickly grew to become America’s number one retailer in the home furniture. Today, it operates stores in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Central America, and Chile. 

The company opened its 100th store in 2003, and its 200th store in 2005. It was the top-selling and fastest-growing furniture brand in the world in 2006. By 2007, it had 300 stores in operation. Despite most of the stores being independently operated and owned, all the furniture sold is made by Ashley. 

In July 2010, Jennifer Convertibles filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Ashley Furniture was reported to have up to $1.4 million in claims against Jennifer. Jennifer was able to emerge from bankruptcy in 2011 and by then, Jennifer Convertibles operated 6 Ashley HomeStores in New York. 

In 2013, Ashley Furniture put up a 3.8-million-square-foot manufacturing and distribution center in Advance, North Carolina. The company opened its 500th store in 2014 in Longview, Texas. By 2017, there were more than 750 locations in the world operated under the Ashley HomeStore brand. The chain opened its first store in South America in April 2015.
