Bravo Supermarkets is a grocery store chain containing mid-size supermarkets founded in 1991 and now has over 70 locations across the area from New York to Florida. The Bravo's headquarters are based in New York, so many independently owned shops were opened in the city during the 1990s.

Currently, the company is dedicated to involvement in community life, focusing on Hispanic customers. It provides aid to communities with a wide range of products offered in markets. Krasdale Food brands are widely represented in Bravo supermarkets. These include local food products along with international, as well as particular goods like organic foods. Moreover, the company holds outreach events regularly.

Big is not often better, at least when it came to supermarkets. Bravo, a smaller-sized supermarket chain.

From the chains' standpoint, it's a way to build a store that will generate a quick return on investment and to locate in areas where they wouldn't otherwise be able to.

Smaller chains are targeting the demographics. They're not there trying to compete with the larger supermarkets. But they complement them.

Bravo is similar in size to Aldi, and The Fresh Market. Bravo is the most like a typical supermarket, combining major national brands with private label or second-tier brands (in Bravo's case, it's Krasdale).

Bravo Supermarkets, large ethnic shops in Bradenton and Orlando have been opened by many founders. Much is on the way with the success of these companies and the rise in the Hispanic industry.

For small food stores these are especially tough times. The big retailers and Wal-Mart Supercenters have virtually no profit margins on separate stores. Individual companies have collapsed to about 3% or 4% of the overall market share in Florida. Then how are New York food suppliers that balance Bravo Supermarkets with the Sunshine State?

In the niche market, the reaction is: Bravo Supermarkets are asking for Hispanics, one of the nation's rapidly increasing ethnic groups. According to the Pew Hispanic Center in Washington, the Hispanic population rose 538 percent between 1980 and 2000.

The positions of Bravo Supermarket move into what is known as a voluntary foodstuff. Similar to franchise, the businesses at all Bravo stores are managed and jointly marketed and distributed separately through BetaII Marketing Inc. in White Plains, N.Y. An extra shop ownership by the owner, no franchising costs or the right to quit at any time from the Bravo network are the main difference.
