Carquest Corporation is an American distribution network of automotive parts currently owned and operated by Advance Auto Parts through independent network-related retailers.
In 1974, O. Temple Sloan of General Parts, Dan Bock of Bobro Products, and Joe Hughes of Indiana Parts Warehouse decided to create the CarQuest marketing alliance and distribution network.
Sloan thought "that programmed distribution through a cooperative alliance would be the most effective means to remain competitive" in response to competition from high-volume retail stores.
Carquest Auto Parts relaunched the Carquest.com website in June 2012, offering online orders and store pick-ups.
As of October 2014, Advance served 5,305 stores and 109 branches of Worldpac. Advance runs the stores in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition to Mexico and numerous Caribbean Islands, the Company also serves individually owned Carquest branded stores across these regions. About 75,000 team members are employed in Advance Auto Parts and CARQUEST Auto Parts.
