Like in every sphere, the market of food delivery is very competitive. It can be tough to take place under the sun, but Gordon Food Service has been managing to do it for over one hundred years.

The history of one of the famous American foodservice distributors started in 1897 when a Dutch immigrant Isaac Van Westenbrugge took some money to establish a delivery business – he provided the shops of Grand Rapids (Michigan State) with milk products. He truly cared about the meal’s quality; that is why he kept them in his barn behind the house, and before delivering, he checked them for freshness. His business went well, and soon he could lease a place in the Grand Rapids’ food area.

In 1916 to Isaac Van Westenbrugge’s team, a young man, Ben Gordon, came. Together they successfully developed the shipping business, and soon they expanded their delivery menu by including new items like Rival Dog Food, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Kraft Cheeses and others. Later Ben Gordon became Isaac Van Westenbrugge’s business partner, and they created the cheese company of Gordon and Van. Over time, Ben’s brother, Frank, joined the organization, and together after Isaac retiring they established what we now know as “Gordon Food Service.”

Gordon Food Service delivery’s geography is extended – the organization ships products to different territories of the US – starting from Northeast and Midwest and ending with Southwest. In addition, the firm ships food to Canada. Gordon Food Service has built a network of shipping centers to make the delivery process easier and quicker. There are fourteen delivery centers across the USA and seven shipping points in Canada.

Now let’s speak about Gordon Food Service clients; who are they? Like many organizations, Gordon Food Service has introduced a loyalty program for its clients. The members of Gordon Go! loyalty program can take a great benefit from it.
