History of Labcorp:

In 1995 Labcorp came to life by a merger between Roche Biomedical Laboratories and National Health Laboratories. Hoffman- La Roche went to the United States in 1905, with the foresight that the future medicine industry would become the world's lifeline. The company officially entered the lab business by obtaining the Kings Country Research Laboratory in 1969.

In the meantime, Thomas Edward Powell III and his twin brothers Dr. James Powell and John Powell created Biomedical Reference Laboratories (BRL) in a hospital in Burlington. In 1974 Revlon Inc. entered into the picture and soon became the National Health Laboratories (NHL).  In 1982 Hoffman-La Roche got its hands on BRL and in 1983 combined all the labs under its control to form Roche Biomedical Laboratories (RBL).

In 1994 the NHL expanded its scope and annexed the Allied Clinical Health, which was the 6th largest lab of America. After that, both these companies merged to form Labcorp in 1995 under the leadership of Dr. James Powell, and the rest is history.
