What the company is doing

RaceWay is a gas station franchisor that operates in the United States. Each of its locations are independently operated and owned. The brand, together with its sites, gas facilities and buildings are owned by the parent company RaceTrac Petroleum Inc.

How big it is

RaceWay operates more than 240 stores that span 11 states on the Southeast side of the United States.

History of the brand

RaceWay traces its roots to 1934 when Carl Bolch Sr. opened a trackside station in St. Louis, Missouri. Carl Bolch Jr. joined the company in 1967, and ten years later, the company moved its headquarters to Atlanta.

The name RaceWay brand was born in the same year, alongside that of its parent company, RaceTrac.

Business Directions

RaceWay franchisees collect profits from in-store sales. RaceWay only collects rent on the gas facilities and buildings set up by its parent company, RaceTrac, Inc. Operators also pay a fee for every gallon of gasoline sold. This unique business model allows licensed owners to make millions of dollars for a low capital investment.

Key Facts

All stores sell RaceWay’s proprietary gasoline brand. A RaceWay store is normally 2,200 square feet in size with between 10 and 12 fueling stations.

Mission and Vision

RaceWay believes in building long-lasting relationships with its franchisees. It provides all licensed dealers with unmatched support to ensure that new businesses succeed in the long run.

FAQ

Is RaceWay and RaceTrac the same?

RaceWay is owned by RaceTrac but operates differently from its parent company. It is mainly a franchisor that’s found on sites, buildings, and gas facilities owned by RaceTrac.

Can you fill gas can at gas station?

Yes, you can. But, not on cars with carpeted floors/trunks or on a truck bed. The dispenser nozzle can cause a spark and ignite the gas.

Where does RaceTrac get their gasoline from?

Crude oil is normally mixed in refineries and pipelines before being sold. This makes it difficult to determine from where it comes from. Most gas stations do not know exactly where their gas comes from.
