When people think about Daly City in California, they probably think about old movies about surfing, burlesque shows, and outrageous shows. However, it's a bustling community that's just as much about art, nature, history, shopping, nightlife, and bicycling as it is about water sports and comedy clubs. The first mention of this little city comes from a song written by Don Cherry. It was called California Boy. In fact, the name was given to the area by Rear Admiral W.inton Chandler, who controlled the shipping routes around San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Daly City lies right along those routes, so it's easy to see why it got its name. Daly City is the third-largest city in San Mateo County, California, with an approximate estimated 2021 population offended of 106,281. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, it's named after landowner and businessman John Donald Daly, who were instrumental in bringing two small sailing craft to San Francisco docks for the first time ever. After he died, his family decided to name the city after him.

Most of the original businesses in the area are centered in the San Mateo County waterfront, especially the waterfront known as the Embarcadero. Dining is something that you will definitely want to try when you visit. One of the more popular restaurants is Harry's at the Embarcadero, which is notable for having a full patio on the second floor. This patio overlooks the water and has a nice view. Harry's offers local alfresco dining, seafood, burgers, steaks, wraps, and much more.

The waterfront is also popular for boating and windsurfing. There are a number of charter services available to those who enjoy these activities. The most popular, and oldest, among them is the Rayburn Reels, which was established in 1941. It offers sailing, fishing, and charter services. You may also want to check out the Jack Nicklaus Course, which was built by one of the world's greatest golfers.

For a close-up look at what living in the area can offer you, just drive down the famous Highway 101, which goes through Pacific Grove. Many residents of the area have grown up on the west side of San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean. The iconic Highway 101 passes through many scenic neighborhoods in the San Mateo County area, and you will be right in the middle of them when you take a ride. There are many places along the highway where you can park and have a delicious lunch or dinner.

If you love being right in the middle of the action, you'll love the Mission District, where many of the city's most well-known icons live. The Gaslamp Quarter, which is on the west side of town, is filled with trendy shopping and great restaurants. Nearby is Presidio Park, which is full of beautiful nature scenery. In addition, you can walk to the Ferry building, which is where the ferry to San Francisco departs from. Many tourists love this trip, as it gives them a chance to see one of the world's most famous landmarks right in their own backyard.

The city of San Diego has a strong Mexican influence, as you will find in its many Mexican restaurants and bars. There are also large numbers of excellent seafood restaurants in the area, such as Tortugas and La Gran Plaza. The La Costa Canyon and Sea World are also nice places to visit, along with the many theme parks. All-inclusive vacations are popular, particularly in San Diego, so you may want to look into all-inclusive packages that include hotel accommodations, tours, and tickets to local attractions. With everything included, your vacation should be affordable and enjoyable.

Like many other coastal cities throughout the United States, San Diego was once part of the Gold Rush and a very prosperous city. Now, it prides itself on having a thriving downtown.
